AVEPANE has undergone over three decades of uninterrupted work. It has generated, integrated and channeled human energy towards two well-defined goals: First, to provide a service to society in order to rescue individuals who according to their age and social role have difficulty to perform activities accepted as basic components of daily life; and second, to work intensively to achieve prevention defined as a timely, progressive and determining intervention of the bio-psycho-social system wherein the members of a society are born and raises, so that the ecological relation of the individual in his or her midst may be achieved in terms of equilibrium, well-being and possibilities of harmonious development, both individually as well as socially.
As a result of this action, similar Associations are established throughout Venezuela, that unite themselves through a Federation called FEVEPANE, and the Ministry of Education established the Special Education Office.
AVEPANE also achieved that Special Education for the Rehabilitation
of the Mentally Retarded be included within the integral medical assistance,
and therefore that they perceive the benefits of social welfare.
